Waste Gas Collection, NCG, Biogas, Landfill 2017-05-24T22:15:06+00:00

A. H. Lundberg is the leading supplier of non-condensable gas (NCG) collection systems in the Pulp and Paper industry.

We have over 60 years of experience with implementing waste gas collection systems, thermal oxidizers, and gas injection into boilers, kilns and incinerators to handle all types of NCG sources.

Our experience has lent to solving problems of waste gas management in a broad spectrum of process industries.

Having supplied over 200 thermal oxidizer systems to industrial plants, AHL has the experience to solve any waste gas emissions problem.

Pulp and Paper – Non-condensable Gas Collection System

Kraft pulp mills are normally characterized by a distinct foul odor. This odor is caused by sulfur compounds, referred to as Total Reduced Sulfur (TRS) that are generated in Kraft pulping process when wood is cooked with Kraft liquor. TRS can also be generated in direct contact evaporators, in recovery boilers, and in lime kilns. The TRS gases involved are hydrogen sulfide (H2S), methyl mercaptan (CH3SH), dimethyl sulfide (CH3SCH3), and dimethyl disulfide (CH3SSCH3).

TRS gases that are emitted from digesters, evaporators, turpentine systems, strippers, brown stock washers and liquor storage tanks are contained in gases referred to as Non-condensable gases (NCG).

AHL specializes in the design and installation of collection & handling systems to address:

  • Concentrated Non-Condensable Gas (CNCG)

  • Dilute Non-Condensable Gas (DNCG)

  • Stripper Off Gas (SOG)

  • Tank Vent Systems

  • Chip Bin Vent & Low Pressure Feeder Vent

  • Digester Depressurization (DDP)

The waste gas conveying and conditioning system may include the removal and recovery of organic condensates and free water, gas reheat, and pressurization to safely convey the gases to the point of thermal oxidation.

The thermal value and sulphur content of the waste gases will often determine which thermal oxidizer technologies will be applied. The presence or absence of oxygen in the waste gas will determine how it may be handled safely.

Our experience includes the implementation of a variety of devices including kilns, flares, power boilers, recovery boilers, Direct Fired Oxidizers (incinerators) and Regenerative Thermal Oxidizers (RTOs).

Biogas and Landfill Gas Collection and Utilization

Anaerobic digestion has proved successful in many applications in its ability to recycle biogenic wastes to produce biogas, while landfill gas (LFG) recovery has become a standard technology in most of the industrialized countries for energy recovery, environmental and safety reasons.

These gases, containing up to 80% methane, have increasingly been used in combined heat and power (CHP) engines and turbines, or as a supplement to natural gas in industrial equipment such as boilers and dryers.

AHL can assist in determining the best usage for your biogas or landfill gas, and can provide complete gas collection, treatment, transport, and custom burner systems.
