Condensate Segregation
Condensate segregation concentrates volatile organic compounds (VOC) and Total Reduced Sulphur (TRS) into a smaller fraction of the condensate, minimizing the mass flow of foul condensate to the effluent treatment system while maximizing the recapture of clean process condensates for re-use within the mill.
There are two methods used: two-stage condensing (the most effective method), and flash distillation. Two-stage condensation requires that a vapour be condensed in series on two distinct surfaces, in one body or in two separate vessels. Flash distillation results in the more volatile VOC and TRS components being concentrated in the vapour phase.
