Black Liquor Oxidation

Conventional kraft recovery boilers utilize combustion flue gas heat to evaporate water from the liquor, increasing the solids concentration required by the boiler. However, carbon dioxide in the flue gas acidifies the black liquor creating sodium sulphide, resulting in high levels of hydrogen sulphide in the flue gas.

Through high-efficiency pre-oxidation of the black liquor with A.H. Lundberg Systems' fine bubble oxygen sparging system, the sodium sulphide content is converted to sodium thiosulphate, preventing the subsequent formation and emission of hydrogen sulphide.
