Engineering Studies/Audits
A.H. Lundberg Systems is often requested to perform an audit on an existing plant system for a number of purposes including increasing system capacity, system safety, system efficiency, improve stability of ease of operation, trouble shooting and interfacing one system with another or future system. Each audit is tailored to the specific need of the client and may comprise a number of the areas listed above.
A.H. Lundberg Systems does not currently conduct plant wide water or energy audits. However, our knowledge in multiple processes within the plant permits our audits to cross many operation areas and responsibilities in the plant. For instance, the collection of dilute NCG sources requires knowledge of the washer and filtrate tank operation, continuous digester blow tank and chip bin operation, recovery boiler operation or power boiler operation.
Our specialty is the process knowledge of the technology we provide. We utilize this technology to benefit a plant in the review of individual systems including all types of NCG systems, condensate stripping systems, evaporator systems and heat recovery systems. In addition, we conduct audits on the more obscure systems in pulp plants including soap recovery.
At the beginning of every audit its objectives need to be clearly outlined. The scope of an audit may be as limited as an investigation of the safety of an existing system to a complete +/- 10 percent EPC estimate of a project. The scope of the project dictates the detail of work completed but in most cases it includes a site visit, a flow diagram, and a report explaining the findings of the audit. In many instances, the more detailed audits will include general arrangements, preliminary piping routings and contractor bid requests.
