We provide systems to handle, off load, and store most chemicals used in process industries, including sulphuric acid, sodium chlorate, chlorine, sodium hydroxide and molten sulphur.
These systems are custom designed for purpose and include:
Chemical Handling Systems and Reactors.
- • Our expertise includes the efficient oxidation of sodium sulphide (White Liquor) to sodium thiosulphate. Both air and molecular oxygen reactor designs are available.
- • Reactions involving the combustion of liquid sulphur, the blending of sulphur dioxide with caustic, or the generation of chlorine dioxide are not only carefully monitored, but are safely designed with appropriate safety systems.
- • Our Turpentine Recovery systems are recognized to achieve the most efficient separation of turpentine from foul process condensates by proper integration of multi-stage condensing, condensate segregation, and long retention decanting.
- • Soap Recovery may be as simple as skimming and laundering to minimize black liquor content in the soap or more extensive such as subsequent acidulation to Crude Tall Oil.
Separation Technologies may be applied as part of many processes and may include:
- • Cyclones, Liquid Decanters, Chemical Filters and Strainers, Foam Breakers, Mist Eliminators, Skimmers, Venturi Scrubbers, and Multi-stage Flash Tanks.
In all cases the proper choice of the separation device is based on the nature of the process conditions and the inherent suitability of the equipment.
Custom Equipment designed by A.H. Lundberg can range from specialized Pressure Vessels and Heat Exchangers, Distillation Columns, hot gas Quenchers, and specialized Mixer/Reactors.
- • Distillation column designs are available utilizing trays, random packing, structured packing, or a combination of these mechanisms. In general, the application determines our recommendation of the mass transfer media.
- • Our mixer/reactors are usually horizontal, vessels that incorporate an axial shaft with plows, ribbons, or paddles to promote mixing and a chemical reaction. The vessel may be jacketed to add or remove heat from the process.
- • Our custom heat exchangers are utilized where thermal shock, high solids, close approach temperatures, and exotic metallurgy are required.
System Components support all our technologies as critical safety devices such as:
- • Flame Arresters, Overflow Seals Excess Flow Valves, Explosion Hatches, pressure and/or vacuum Relief Valves, Sight Glasses, and Vent Dryers.
System components may be used to upgrade or expand existing systems. We offer a full range of engineering services to evaluate and redesign existing systems, as necessary to meet the most current plant standards of our customers.
